Description and Requirements
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter. Review technical information prepared by other staff members for clarity and content. Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Join the team creating product documentation for ground-breaking Linux and virtualization products that are changing the way enterprises manage their IT systems.
You will be working with those developing and supporting these products but your primary information source will be your own hands-on experience with products.
In this dynamic environment, you will work as an individual contributor as well as within a team.
The ideal candidate is an experienced technical writer with a proven ability to write clear, concise, professional English. This job requires a driven individual who has already demonstrated a high-level of system administration expertise in areas including Linux, file systems, networking, storage, and virtualization.
You are willing to communicate regularly with peers and stakeholders in a variety of time-zones.
If you enjoy learning new technologies, can autonomously investigate products, and build relationships with information sources and reviewers globally, you will be motivated by this role.
Work location can be flexible for the right candidate.
Required Skills:
Proven ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp technical details
Strong, demonstrated writing skills
Experience with XML-based documentation tools (Docbook/DITA) and familiarity with build toolchains including basic knowledge of XSLT. OxygenXML editor experience a plus.
Experience of using version control systems such as Subversion and Git.
Hands-on experience with Linux or Unix. Having used Linux as a desktop environment and ability to work on command line is necessary for this job.
Understanding of virtualization technologies including ability to set up environments with Oracle VM VirtualBox or KVM.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good planning and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, possess a positive attitude, and an innovative spirit.
Ability to work in cross-functional, global teams, remotely, leverating diverse communication methods (phone, email, web conferencing and messaging)
Ability to work on multiple deliverables for multiple products and within time constraints.
Ability to work in collaborative, geographically dispersed group setting.
Comfort with agile, swift changing, dynamic software development situations.
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills
A knowledge of container technology such as Docker or Kubernetes
Scripting knowledge in high-level language (Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl, JavaScript)
