About the Role:

As a Cloudera Cybersecurity Platform Software Engineer you will be working on developing features for Apache Metron, an open source real-time streaming cybersecurity platform. You will be a member on a team of open source software PMC members, committers, and contributors where you will interact with open source contributors from around the world, as well as with our field delivery teams and customers.
Develop new backend features for HCP/Metron
Work with distributing computing ?big data? technologies (Storm, Spark, Kafka, HDFS, Zookeeper, HBase, Elasticsearch, and Solr)
Contribute to open source software following the community guidelines established in the Apache Metron bylaws.
Work toward becoming an open source committer for Apache Metron
Communicate professionally and publicly with the open source community
Architect, write, and test software using numerous languages, including but not limited to: Java, Python, and Bash.
Handle support ticket escalations
Collaborate remotely with global team spread across 3 continents
Work with quality assurance and documentation team members to deliver a high quality product
Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
Prepare demos of completed work on a regular basis
Document features and collaborate with Cloudera documentation team
Strong distributed system fundamentals
Proficiency in Java
Experience designing, building, and operating applications at scale
Able to independently architect/design highly scalable, distributed solutions
Strong software engineering fundamentals. Fluency with popular data structures, algorithms, and design patterns (GOF) a must.
Comfortable with Unix/Linux operating system and using the command line
Strong unit/integration/acceptance testing background (JUnit)
Experience in real-time and/or microbatch streaming applications (Storm, Spark)
