Social Studies Content Advisor
at Elevate K-12
Elevate K-12 is changing the way classrooms work through live, online, real-time instruction to K-12 schools. An experienced, dynamic, tech-savvy Social Studies educator with curriculum writing experience across grade levels. Someone with deep knowledge of research-based curriculum approaches, standards across states, and effective assessment strategies. This educator will have the ability to work collaboratively with content writers to create quality, inclusive Social Studies programs for online live instruction.
We cater to K-12 schools and would prefer an individual that has had some middle and/or high school level experience.
Develop detailed curriculum maps and learning plans based on state and national standards
Conduct necessary research regarding state standards, curricular approaches, teaching methodologies, etc.
Guide content writers to create engaging and innovative lesson structures and learning experiences to ensure standardization of instructional delivery
Facilitate the preparation of materials, which include activities, projects, study guides, collaborative learning experiences, formative & summative assessments that align with the learning plans
Work collaboratively with content writers to edit and improve lessons
Use assessment data to continually evolve curriculum development and student learning experiences
Prepare and mentor new content writers
Stay current within Social Studies and Online Education
Prepare reporting on student performance against benchmark and summative assessment data to understand the performance of programs
Hold content writers to deadlines and escalate any areas of struggle or needs for improvement
Ensure all content follows a consistent and rigorous methodology that is repeatable as well as horizontally and vertically aligned throughout the Elevate K-12 content library
What You Will Need:
A US state certification in Secondary Education with a specialization in Social Studies (or equivalent)
Master’s Degree in Education (preferred)
Educational Leadership Certification and/or Masters (preferred)
K-12 teaching experience (online or in-person)
At least 8-10 years of experience writing SS curriculum that has been used in the online, public, or private school environment
Experience writing curriculum aligned to standards
Leadership experience in the field of SS Education (preferred)
Leadership: ability to manage content writers and build their capacity
Communication and interpersonal skills
Tech proficiency: PowerPoint, Word, Google Suite, etc.
Experience with popular edtech applications (preferred)
Others: Availability between 8 am and 3 pm CST (work hours are flexible, but the ability to be available online during this time is important)
