Patient Services Representative ? Radiology Scheduling
Overview of Position
This position communicates effectively with patients by accepting either inbound or outbound calls to identify their needs.
This may include reviewing protocols and patient history; scheduling/ rescheduling/ confirming/ canceling appointments; accepting electronic payments; processing prescription renewals; providing physician referrals; HIPAA verifications; registering or updating patient demographics; confirming insurance acceptance and electronic verification; may be required to interact with physician office staff either verbally or in writing; may provide technical support for on-line patient portal; and document all call outcomes.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Obtains current patient information from established and new patients, and accurately enters/updates in the scheduling system
Schedules and re-schedules appointments as needed
Accurately message or transfers call to physicians and nurses when protocol indicated
Identifies payer source and verifies insurance eligibility
Assists patients with completion of paperwork when necessary
Reviews Scheduling System for needed updated demographics and consent form
Accurately imports registration documents into patient’s electronic health record
What are the requirements needed for this position?
1 – 2 years’ experience working in outpatient radiology or hospital/medical scheduling required
Knowledge of all modalities, including X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET-CT and Mammography preferred
HS Diploma or equivalent
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Bilingual (Spanish) helpful
Working knowledge of database applications such as MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of Cerner or Epic a plus
Ability to demonstrates customer service skills; must be courteous, professional and cooperative
Ability to accurately takes messages and conveys information to recipient, detail oriented with good written skills
Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients and other staff members; good interpersonal and active listening skills
