Oil and Gas Solutions Initiative Overview:
RMI’s Oil and Gas Solutions Initiative (OGSI) advances data-driven approaches to quantifying oil and gas sector emissions and builds upon this foundation with action-oriented contextual analysis of the sector. Ultimately OGSI seeks to create climate-differentiated markets for oil and gas, and engage across stakeholdersincluding policymakers, industry, financial institutions, NGOs, and academicsto accelerate decarbonization of the oil and gas sector.
Managers at RMI are creative project leaders who guide and oversee team members to craft visionary yet practical solutions for our industry partners and research. As a Manager at RMI, you will be a primary project lead, and work closely with and under the direction of RMI’s Principals and Managing Directors to design and execute projects. General roles of a Manager:
Has responsibility for managing projects and/or significant portions of initiatives.
Often is responsible for managing and guiding more junior staff, particularly Associates and Senior Associates, although a Manager is sometimes an individual contributor.
Plays a role alongside Principals and Managing Directors to provide mentorship, professional development, and performance reviews of more junior staff.
Contributes to strategy-level conversations about initiatives at RMI.
Has expertise in at least one area and is conversant in one or more additional areas.
Represents RMI externally at mid-level events and in small or mid-sized groups.
Has at least some role in business development.
Petrochemical and refining emissions-reduction efforts
Envision and create analytical tools for handling multivariate datasets, including oil and gas emissions and operational activity data.
Manage stakeholder relations with numerous groups including refinery and petrochemical companies, regulators, academic researchers, financial institutions, and other NGOs.
Offer technical and/or regulatory assistance on emissions-monitoring capabilities, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory calculations, and process engineering.
Engage with community of methane, greenhouse gas, and air toxic experts and industry leaders, including CarbonMapper and ClimateTRACE.
Lead team in developing, modeling, and evaluating process simulations for petrochemical emission sources throughout the value chain.
Supply chain emissions tracking in petrochemicals and natural gas
Develop GHG accounting conventions and guidance for petrochemical and gas supply chains based on existing frameworks.
Work with digitization team to establish a blockchain-based data architecture to improve emissions traceability.
Engage with industry and relevant stakeholders to support adoption of GHG accounting interventions by existing standards and create standards where necessary.
