Learning & Development Director, Network for School Improvement
A member of the School Design and Improvement Division, the Learning & Development Director, Network for School Improvement (Learning & Development Director) will support City Year’s and its partner Johns Hopkins University’s effort to establish, facilitate, and validate the impact of networks of schools that utilize continuous improvement practices to improve on-track rates (a combination of attendance, behavior, and course performance indicators) for eighth grade students.
The Learning & Development Director will serve as a key member of the national Network for School Improvement team, helping to design and shape the learning experiences and coaching of network staff and network schools in implementing continuous improvement to address on-track indicators (attendance, behavior, and course performance).
The Learning & Development Director will also partner with City Year’s internal Learning & Development and Design teams to connect the work they do for school partners and staff with City Year’s broader practices around learning and development, ensuring that City Year’s larger L&D infrastructure will support further expansion of the Network for School Improvement.
As the Network for School Improvement effort continues to expand from two locations supporting 15 schools to four or five locations supporting 40 schools, the Learning & Development Director will also serve as a key partner in developing a national approach to learning and development that connects local networks to each other to share knowledge and best practices as well as codifying best practices and learning to support further growth and development of the network.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Support the Design and Development of Experiences and Coaching Approaches for local networks
You will be responsible for codifying and/or designing the learning and development resources and sessions that will be leveraged by local network leaders with the schools in their networks. These materials will focus on setting schools up for success in leveraging continuous improvement and building learner knowledge of on-track indicators including attendance, behavior and course performance. As you gain insight into the impact of these learning and development resources, you’ll then leverage continuous improvement practices to advance the design of these systems and tools.
Support the Training and Development of local NSI Leaders and NSI staff
In ensuring your designs are implemented effectively, you’ll create the infrastructure to leverage a ?train the trainer? approach to setting up local network leaders for success. This means not only positioning them to be strong facilitators or learning, but also high-quality coaches of adults. You’ll also support NSI leadership in creating the tools and resources that will effectively onboard and provide ongoing targeted professional development to new NSI staff and improvement advisors for the network using both in-person and virtual platforms.
Expand the impact of the NSI’s Learning & Development work and impact
As the network grows, you’ll help lead the team and City Year’s learning and development work in a number of key ways, including:
Creating centralized learning and development design processes across multiple cities and educational contexts.
Creating systems and structures for resources management and codifi…
