We are seeking a Grants Manager to support Bellwether’s external relations efforts in development, writing for a funding audience, and grant budget and metric management.This role is flexible, enabling us to hire the best person for the role, regardless of geography.

Bellwether’s external relations work focuses on leading communications and development efforts internally while creating public-facing materials that will resonate with different types of stakeholders, including policymakers, donors, advocacy organizations, and school leaders.
The Grants Manager will work closely with our external relations team and Bellwether project managers to write grants, source and secure new funders for Bellwether’s work, manage our grants/prospects pipeline, and ensure we’re accurately measuring our impact. The Grants Manager will often serve a coordinating hub role across Bellwether teams and should be comfortable both with details and managing up. This is a new position, and it gives the person in this role an opportunity to shape our external relations work moving forward through both seeking new grant support and developing new systems for a fast-growing and dynamic education organization. This position will report to Director of Development Alyssa Schwenk and work with leaders across the organization.
In this position, you should expect to:
Manage our workflow processes and grant-reporting pipeline via Salesforce, including ensuring that all budgets and paperwork are up-to-date, and liaising with our finance and project teams to ensure we’re communicating promptly and completely to funders;
Conduct funder research to build out our funder databases and enable issue experts to build relationships with potential funders;
Write broadly for a funding audience, including via grant reports, boilerplate, concept papers, and pitch decks;
Develop and maintain clear, efficient, and effective internal best practices around grant management;
Support team training and internal communications related to development and funder outreach;
Liaise with foundation staff to ensure fidelity with grant terms; and
Build out and oversee databases to track the impact that Bellwether’s work is having on the field.
