Senior Paralegal – Supply Chain
Job Summary:
As a member of the BSMH Legal Network, Senior Paralegal/GPO Contract Administrator has two roles: (1) supports attorneys in one or more markets and/or functions (e.g. Supply Chain); and (2) Serves as a Paralegal subject matter expert (SME) role for the legal network. The Senior Paralegal works directly with attorneys and others to realize shared goals, may direct other paralegals to meet shared goals, interfaces with operational and/or support services leadership and both internal clients and external parties, and makes recommendations on agendas & workplans. The Senior Paralegal performs a variety of the team’s essential duties including, drafting, reviewing and negotiating template agreements under supervision of an attorney and other duties requiring effective organizational, planning, problem solving, multitasking, technology, analytical, judgment, and leadership skills. Supports two or more attorneys, including Deputy General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, or Assistant General Counsel. This position will produce work of a legal nature, utilizing knowledge and expertise regarding the legal system and substantive and procedural law and the ethical considerations of the legal profession. A candidate with experience reviewing supply chain and group purchasing order (GPO) is highly preferred.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for review and drafting of a high volume of agreements, correspondence, memoranda, policies or other communications for assigned legal matters.
Investigate the facts, gather and arrange requested documents for attorney needs and provide summaries.
Review appropriate correspondence queues, taking appropriate action and documenting the account accordingly.
Maintain a repository of templates for various types of documents and contracts.
Coordinate and monitor activities to triage work to appropriate person.
Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing systems including, but not limited to, Meditract, Conga and iManage.
Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles.
Delivers education and training in response to specific business needs.
Serves as a Paralegal SME Expert or Consultant. Paralegal SME Lead is assigned when there is a centralized system business owner/entity. Role of Paralegal SME Lead is to be strategic partner with Attorney SME Lead and system business lead and to collaborate with them to develop and implement standard templates and processes. Paralegal SME Lead will seek input from market attorneys and appropriate support services attorneys to assure all needs are considered and coordinated. Paralegal SME Consultant works with Attorney SME Consultant and they are assigned if the business owners are decentralized, but there is value in a system wide standardized template and process. Other paralegals will be responsible for work to support their market or entity attorney and will consult with Paralegal SME Consultant on changes to standardized templates.
Participates in analyzing issues and future needs to identify projects that support the strategic plans, achieve business goals and objectives, and/or improve or streamline functions.
Owns and leads implementation of change.
Completes twelve (12) hours of continuing legal education or other applicable education on an annual basis. Education may pertain to a particular practice area/subject matter or may be geared to general professional development. Education may be completed via seminar, webinar, internal attorney education, outside attorney/law firm education.
Will be back up and support for other paralegal(s), as needed.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studiesor Related Field(*prior Paralegalexperiencemay be substituted for education)
Certification:
Paralegal certification (preferred)
Notary Public (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum five years directly applicable work experience in law firm, corporate department, healthcare legal department, or other related department.
Experience working directly with Group Purchasing Order (GPO) and group purchasing contracts as a paralegal highly preferred.
