AWS Engineer/B3 Analyst (Telecommute)

B3 Group Inc, a fast-growing Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in health IT and PMO support for the federal government, is looking for a talented AWS Engineer to support an initiative within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other team members at all stages of a project, which includes covering requirements capture and assessment, cloud services deployment, security and compliance, systems engineering work and operational readiness activities. The AWS Engineer will bring not only knowledge of core AWS services but experience performing systems engineering tasks as part of an integrated and structured project delivery team.
Actively participate in the full project lifecycle – to include any of: discovery, analysis, documentation, building, migration, automation and production-readiness activities.
Support efforts for assessing, deploying, configuring, testing and operating AWS services.
Hands-on, day to day experience with Window and UNIX/Linux system administration, including knowledge in shell scripting and DNS.
Advanced troubleshooting skills including analyzing log & trace files, opening service requests, collecting documentation, working with Vendors, and driving problem resolution.
Ability to coordinate COTS product installations, configurations and upgrades, with application owners, Project Lead and Project Manager.
Assess existing environments for opportunities to simply, automate or bring efficiency to technical processes
Identify system or performance issues, and develop resolutions
Produce well-written technical project documentation and process documentation
Participate in Change Management processes
Provide break/fix support of cloud-based environments
Support after-hours incident escalations and/or maintenance windows as needed
In order to be successful in this position, we expect you to have the following skills and experience:
Bachelors’ Degree required in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required OR 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
Prefer at least 5 years of related experience with AWS services and standards, best practice configurations, including EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudFront, Route53, CloudWatch, KMS, Redshift, S3 and Glacier, Kinesis.
Experience with AWS data services (e.g.: Redshift, EMR) or RDBMS (e.g.: SQL Server, Oracle) preferred.
Experience with infrastructure configuration management tool (e.g.: Chef, Puppet) desired but not required
Prefer current AWS certifications.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including technical documentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and work collaboratively in dynamic team environment.
Proven track record in demanding, customer service oriented environment.
Ability to communicate clearly with all levels within an organization.
Excellent analytical skills, organizational abilities and problem solving skills.
Staying abreast of new and developing technologies is a requirement of this position.
Self-starter who works efficiently in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
Desired / Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in the use Scrum and Agile methodology/processes.
Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal organizations.
