American Cancer Society (ACS) is seeking a passionate data individual on the fight against cancer. ACS is building out an enterprise data science practice. The data engineer will be working in tandem with the director of data science for developing and implementing a modern data pipeline for ACS. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor.
Design and implement a large scale, high-density, data platform to be used for a variety of research / analytic purposes.
Complete data integration from multitude of sources into our cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate with department leaders to understand their current and future data needs.
Collaborate with the director of data science to the complete data strategy roadmap.
Document the architecture and solutions for business continuity.
Work with analytics engineer to build out best in class data models for data visualizations.
Collaborate with data scientist(s) and machine learning engineer to build best in class data models for statistical modeling and machine learning.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computational Biology, or equivalent experience. Three or more years of relevant work experience.
3+ years of building a modern data pipeline, including the ETL, cloud-storage, reporting, and deployment
Experience with cloud services such as, Azure Cloud, Google Cloud, AWS
Deep expertise with SQL, and other languages such as NoSQL, python, etc.
Experience working with dense data such as images / genomics.
Ability to understand the data needs of researchers, such as epidemiologist and cancer researchers, guiding them to the best practices for their data.
Experience with Snowflake, particularly data integration from multiple sources.
Experience with data integration tools like Rivery.io, Fivetran, etc.
Experience with healthcare data, such as claims, electronic health records, biospecimen, medical imaging, genomic data.
Snowflake certification, or willing to complete within first 6 months of hire.
Exposure to BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Looker.
Experience working with data science tools, such as JetBrains.
Experience with survey data
Proven experience in data engineering for a modern data pipeline.
