Stripe handles billions of dollars every year for businesses around the world, and the Risk team plays a critical role in the company’s financial and partnership health. As a Risk Strategist on the Commercial Business Risk team, you will directly impact Stripe’s bottom line and growth capabilities by managing risks for the portfolio of Stripe’s largest and most strategic users. A cross-functional partner working across teams including Product, Engineering, Data Science and Sales, you will develop data-driven, globally scalable systems and processes that combine strong risk management fundamentals with seamless user experiences.

As a Risk Strategist on the Commercial Business Risk team, you will directly impact Stripe’s bottom line and growth capabilities by managing risks for the portfolio of Stripe’s largest and most strategic users. A cross-functional partner working across teams including Product, Engineering, Data Science and Sales, you will develop data-driven, globally scalable systems and processes that combine strong risk management fundamentals with seamless user experiences.
You will:
Develop scalable methods to identify, measure, and control end-to-end risks across the user lifecycle: this will involve identifying and helping build crucial risk management systems including in-product and back-end controls, use of third-party risk assessment tools, and implementation of rule-based and model-based detection systems
Identify & define key metrics used to observe the health of the commercial business portfolio
Conduct root-cause analyses on out-of-pattern portfolio trends & customer management issues
Become an expert on the global ecosystem of Stripe’s products, integrations, tools, and partner requirements, and how those elements interact with payment risks
Develop strong internal relationships across partner teams (Data Science, Product, Engineering, Treasury, Sales, Operations, and Finance)
Work to tailor credit risk management techniques to different geographies
Challenge the payments industry status quo to help enable innovative businesses to flourish online
We are looking for someone with:
7+ years of relevant experience with knowledge of credit risk management and financial risk modeling
A builder’s mindset with a willingness to question assumptions and conventional wisdom
An inclination to solve problems systematically
Excellent communication: You are able to convey complex ideas succinctly and develop an impactful narrative
Analytical: You are well versed in data analysis and can frame business decisions and tradeoffs effectively through quantitative analysis and visualization
Collaborative: Ability to work effectively across teams, building strong working relationships in order to successfully execute on shared deliverables
An enthusiastic ?roll up your sleeves? mentality
Experience with SQL required, experience with R/Python preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or other quantitative or related field
