Location: This is a remote position reporting to New York Life’s headquarters in New York, NY. Applicants may work from a home office anywhere in the United States.
Offered Wage: $143,021/year
Duties: Executes automation and manual test cases on technology solutions to validate business requirements, design specifications, and production readiness. Develops and executes test plans created to validate software solutions using real-world scenarios and proposed business processes. Partners closely with Requirements Leads, Business Analysts, and IT Testing professionals to ensure business requirements are appropriately tested according to specifications. Reports defects, usability variances, and business process issues that negatively impact production readiness or established acceptance criteria. Contributes to the definition of testing acceptance criteria, final approval of production readiness approval, and real-world business use case creation. Works with Business Requirement Leads to determine appropriate test coverage, test scenarios, and exploratory testing strategies according to business requirements. Executes testing, including “Run the Shop” work that focuses on keeping the systems running and small enhancements and large-scale strategic programs that focus on “Grow the Business” and new business technology modernization.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience in performing automation and manual testing and providing software testing support leveraging Waterfall and Agile testing methodologies within the insurance industry.
Or, alternatively:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience in performing automation and manual testing and providing software testing support leveraging Waterfall and Agile testing methodologies within the insurance industry.
Required Certifications & Skills:
Experience must include 3 years in each of the following skills:
(1) Developing Selenium-Java automation frameworks leveraging TestNG and Maven for test suite execution, and crafting functional and non-functional automated testing frameworks and coding, maintaining, and executing test scripts leveraging Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) to ensure business processes cited in JIRA requirements;
(2) Coordinating with user acceptance testing (UAT) teams during Agile sprints to identify test data from SQL databases and creating required test data by managing test cases and bug management processes leveraging JIRA management tools;
(3) Crafting test strategies and plans for large-scale projects and tracking revisions to maintain project alignment and ensure version control throughout using documentation in JIRA;
(4) Testing web services to verify test results leveraging SOAP user interface (UI) and REST Extensible Markup Languages (XMLs) and extracting data through SQL queries at the backend to ensure software systems reliability and accuracy; and,
(5) Creating JIRA dashboards leveraging custom, defined gadgets and filters in JIRA to view project insights by collecting data from multiple sources, including project details, bug tracking, number and types of reported issues, and overall state of the project to identify areas of improvement and ensure that workflows run smoothly and meet established objectives.
