The Role at a Glance
As part of our go forward strategy in risk management, we are adding a new Assistant Vice President (AVP) position to our industry leading risk management organization. This exciting role has the opportunity for impact on enterprise strategic direction and potential career growth for risk professionals.
In this role, you will be responsible for new business reporting, helping set product and assumptions risk governance standards, and staying current on industry developments to help drive toward solutions when appropriate. This position may also leverage coding and data visualization skills to advance strategic projects and support aggregation of key product metrics and risk exposures.
The ideal candidate will be able to cross business lines and functional areas, show technical prowess, and possess retail business acumen to help drive action in key risk and financial areas.
This role is within the Chief Risk Office, reporting to the VP, Corporate Actuary and Head of ERM Product Risk. The focus of this group is to deliver insightful, value-add, actionable risk analytics and governance to drive business results. This opportunity offers a unique combination of experience in corporate actuarial oversight, ERM product risk, and strategic business partnership at an exciting time of transformation.

What you’ll be doing
Key Responsibilities
Lead the reporting and expansion of quality of new business reporting, which highlights key sales, financial, and risk related metrics for senior management.
Contribute to the development of enterprise-wide product and assumption risk standards and promote their adoption throughout the company.
Monitor the evolution of product- and business-level risk profiles and drive alignment with Lincoln’s risk appetite and limits.
Support the development and upgrade of the quality of actuarial investigations and evaluation of the financial well-being of the enterprise.
Establish effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the individual lines of business.
Research and prepare briefings on key risk-driver and external landscape developments for senior leaders.
Special Projects
Support risk-based research into mortality, morbidity, and/or policyholder behavior hot topics.
Support the advancement of financial metrics and dashboards for use in strategic planning.
Explore new technological platforms for delivering clear and insightful information to management via interactive dashboards and/or visualizations.
Participate in ad hoc projects related to product development, implementation, inforce management, and corporate risk management initiatives.
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
10+ years of experience in actuarial science.
5+ years of experience working in Annuity, Life, and/or ERM roles.
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation or Associate (ASA) with additional years of actuarial experience.
Strong understanding of product- and assumptions-risk management practices.
Proven leadership experience, including team management and project oversight.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of retail insurance products, including their economics, accounting, risk profiles, and product strategies.
Proven ability to analyze and propose solutions for a range of technical actuarial issues.
Comfort working with and communicating across various teams and levels of seniority, including effective challenge and independent thinking.
Strong project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment with occasionally changing priorities.
Conceptual thinkers with high-levels of intellectual curiosity, comfort asking questions and challenging the status quo.
Passion for problem-solving and a willingness to be persistent.
Other advanced designations a plus – CFA, CERA, FRM.
Proficiency with coding and data visualization software a plus.

Pay Range: 140,701 – $256,200
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
